Friendship

Friendship
One night when I was on the web I came across a quote that someone said and strangely it didn’t have a source to it. The quote was about friendship and it said, “Even though we’ve changed and we’re all finding our own place in the world, we all know that when the tears fall or the smile spreads across our face, we’ll come to each other because no matter where this crazy world take us, nothing will ever change so much to the point where we’re not all still friends”. I like this quote because it gave me a sense of “hope” that out there I have a true friend by my side no matter how many conflicts we go through. When I read it I thought, people are changing each and every day, yet those who are true friends to me will always have the urge to stop and say “hello” or start a friendly conversation and not just leisure by as if I were a stranger. The quote shows that even though people are changing, they’ll always be there for each other no matter what circumstances.
When I read this quote it got me thinking about all the previous friendships I’ve had. Some were good and, of course, some were bad. Some helped me cope with problems and some were the beginning roots of the problems. Throughout my life, I’ve learned that friends will come and go and those who are true to me will stay by my side. Those who just simply seek for the bad in me will stay lost in my mind with all those dead, long forgotten memories. On the contrary, I remember the first time I experienced my first friendship between someone. When I was about four years old, I lived in a big, yet tranquil neighborhood. There I met a young girl who was two years older than I was. She and I became really close friends and I remember almost every day I would go to her house and just play using our endless imaginations. Those were the best childhood memories I’ve ever had and I couldn’t ask for more. Although we were really good friends, as time passed she became more fond of the kids in her grade level and eventually she became closer to them and a little more distant from me. In that scenario maybe the quote didn’t fall in my favor, but just the thought that there’s still an endless world of people out there who could also have that kind of effect on me, is just eye opening.
My definition of “Friendship” is the bond between two people who actually enjoy the presence of one another and get along a bit more intimately compared to others around them. Friendship is the trust that one holds towards another where one can depend on them to listen to one’s problems and to help one another go through a tough situation. A friend to me is someone who can help me or guide me towards the right direction and along the way giving me positive influences to succeed in life rather than having someone give me negative influences that can later lead me into problems. Everyone has a friend, even those who think they don’t, but the key to having a friend is knowing a way to keep them close and cherishing every moment you have with them.

David I enjoyed reading your blog particularly so because we have a similar topic.the reason I enjoyed it was that I had a feel for what you think a friend is because of the descriptions which you gave them to be and Personal experiences with your past or present friends.i really liked the definition of a friend for you because i could relate to the experiences being that it is exactly what has occured in my life.Your style of writing has always captured my attention because of the imagery and the flow of your words.

  3. David! I like your post! It’s definitely true. Sometimes you never really know who your true friends are until you’re put into a scenario that test true friendship. When everyone else turns on you, only your true friends will stand by your side. Anyone can say, “Oh yeah we’er the best of friends!”, but will everything turns pot, most, you’ll find, will leave you high and dry. You don’t have to worry about me David! I’ll always be there for you! :D

  5. David, I absolutely love this quote. It is so personal and relatable. Everybody understands the feeling of sadness and turning to someone close to them for support. In this world, there is nothing like an honest and true best friend to have by your side. The way you took time to explain your own experience made reading this post even more enjoyable. Your post was great and I am excited to read the future ones. :)

  6. You chose a really great quote because there are many definitions that people will give when describing a true friend. The idea of friendship is such a broad idea and you explained it pretty accurately in my opinion. I agree with you when you said that you need to cherish the times you have with your friends.
